A pluralistic day school is not affiliated with a denominational movement of Judaism or any synagogue. SDJA students represent secular, reform, reconstructionist, conservative, and modern orthodox families. All streams of Judaism and perspectives are respected and valued.

SDJA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the California Association of Independent Schools, and the National Association of Independent Schools.

In the Golda Meir Lower School, students spend one-third of the day studying Hebrew and Jewish Studies. In the Maimonides Upper School, one-fifth of the day is devoted to Jewish Studies.

Because affordability is a concern to many families, SDJA has a comprehensive tuition affordability program to make a Jewish day school education available to as many students as possible. The aid is awarded solely upon the basis of need and only if the applicant follows the guidelines and timelines established.

SDJA is exceptionally strong academically and offers both a secular and Judaic curriculum. Due to the dual curriculum, students at SDJA graduate with more credits than students at most other private schools. SDJA offers a values-based education that strives to challenge and inspire them, while giving them space to explore.

SDJA offers a full complement of extracurricular programs and activities. Student government provides a forum for students to exercise leadership skills. There is an extensive sports program, a state-of-the-art performing arts auditorium for music and drama, art, a maker space, a garden, and more.

Since the school’s dining program is built into tuition and is not fee-based, no rebate is available for not utilizing the service, regardless of circumstance (this is standard policy at most schools that offer inclusive dining). Like many of our school's programs, not everything that is offered and budgeted is utilized by every student. All of our programs and offerings, particularly the dining program, help create a strong, welcoming SDJA community.
