Learning through athletic participation

Our commitment to the SDJA community is that our athletic program will provide students with opportunities to compete in competitive team sports, in turn building a strong set of values including teamwork, self-discipline, ethical development and physical fitness.

Athletics Program

Athletics are a vital part of the curriculum at SDJA. As an extension of the academic classroom and traditional school day, many valuable life lessons are learned through athletic participation.

Learning Objectives in Athletic Participation

  • Physical Fitness & Athletic Functional Movement Skills
  • Ethical Qualities
  • Emotional Maturity
  • Constructive Social Abilities - TEAM, respect, perseverance, responsibility, and preparation

In keeping with the school’s commitment to providing  opportunities for growth through challenge for every student, SDJA does not exclude students from participating on a team due to lack of experience and/or ability. There is a long tradition in the athletic department here to actively encourage students to attempt a new sport as a means to expand their life skills and physical fitness. The school aims to provide a team to meet every ability level and encourages all students to enter the LIONS DEN.
