  • Open to all 9th-12th grade students.
  • 5-week Hybrid Program (Tuesday online classes, Thursday eld days)

The California Naturalist Certification is a unique, college-level course that blends classroom learning, eld exploration, and real environmental science. Students gain a deeper understanding of California’s ecosystems— including ecology, geology, wildlife, water, forests, and climate—while building practical skills in observation, environmental stewardship, and scientific communication. The course includes guest lectures from scientists and industry professionals, fieldwork at local natural areas, participation in community and participatory science (including contributions to iNaturalist), and a capstone project that addresses a real environmental challenge. Students develop strong scientific inquiry skills, leadership abilities, and a meaningful connection to the natural world. Successful completion earns students the official UC California Naturalist Certification and eligibility for 4 academic credits through an official UC Davis transcript.

Camp Carmel Creek: ECC

Open to current or incoming SDJA ECC Students.

At camp, we provide a safe place for your children to explore and grow through our sunny months. Our days are filled with activities that support learning and development, while having the best time with friends and teachers.

The continuity from the school year into summer is important for our littlest campers, so we try to keep similar routines with even more outdoor fun mixed into the day.

At the end of each week, on Friday, we come together as a full camp to celebrate Shabbat. We sing and tell stories, we highlight our values of the week.
